Monroe Benaim is the School Board Member for Palm Beach County, District 1. District 1 includes all the communities from the Northern border of Palm Beach County South to Northlake Blvd. The District 1 Southern border goes west along Northlake Blvd and includes the Acreage South to 60th Street. The Western border of the district includes Canal Point and Pahokee.

Elected to the Palm Beach County School Board in November 2002, Monroe currently serves on the Business Development Board, the Palm Beach County Education Foundation, the Federal Relations Network (National School Board Assoc.), the Florida School Board Assoc. Legislative Committee and the Palm Beach County Value Adjustment Board.

Monroe was raised in Miami, Florida where he attended the Dade County Public School System. In 1970, Monroe received a Bachelor of Science degree from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (M.I.T.). Dr. Benaim is a graduate of the University of Miami School of Medicine class of 74’ and he finished his Eye Surgery training at the renowned Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas, Texas. Dr. Benaim has been an Eye Surgeon in Jupiter since 1979 until 2002, when he retired from practice to assume his responsibilities on the school board.

Monroe is married to Jennifer, a Training and Development Consultant, and together they are raising their two boys, Samuel age 14 and Eric age 11, who attend public school. Samuel is just beginning at Jupiter High School and Eric is going to start 6th grade at Jupiter Middle School of Technology.
